Dance Seminar and Practice. 21st to 23rd September 2018

Our dear friend and Sunray Minister Angelika Salberg will be offering a weekend of Dance Practice and Teachings in support of our deepening practice. Newcomers are welcome.

The seminar will be held on Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd September (7-9pm Friday, 10am to late on Saturday and 10 – 4.30pm on Sunday) at LEEP, Langmead, Langford Rd nr Newton St Cyres.Exeter, Devon EX5 5AG

Friday evening will be an opportunity to refine our connection with the Dance of the Directions (Form 1) and for newcomers to be taught the Dance by an authorised instructor with input from Angelika (our Ceremonial Dance teacher).

The weekend will be an opportunity to refine the Eagle and Stick Dances, and to explore a deeper understanding of the Dance of the Directions. We will practice body exercises, we will meditate, we will learn and practice the drum rhythms, all to help us open a resonant connection with the land.

We will explore together ancient teachings of the Sacred Fire, and receive teachings on the keeping of the Womens’ Fire (and its relationship with the ‘Central Fire’ kept by the Men of the Community). All of this is partly in preparation for our Ceremonial Fire (for the Autumn Equinox) on the Saturday late afternoon. On the Sunday we will spend the morning processing a Community or World issue (eg. Brexit) facilitated by Sue Milner (Processwork Diplomate and Authorised Dance Instructor). We will then offer the Dance at a sacred site as an exploration of the Dance for healing, reconciliation, and transformation.

Angelika tells us: The Dance of the Directions opens realms in which we can receive the old healing potential of movement of the native people of the Americas. It has been passed on for 27 generations in the Ywahoo-lineage of the Cherokee people. It is a dance of centering between heaven and earth.
We can meet the qualities of the directions (the elements)through movement: spiraling out, spiraling in…..
The movements clear and strengthen the energy pathways of the body.
In the movement we create energy fields around our body, we move them, let them work, feel within and around ourselves…..
In repetition we enter more and more dimensions.
If we dance together we have the feeling of a flock of birds creating a whole secret choreography. Dancing in pairs we mirror each other. Dancing alone we meet ourselves and the being(s) of our surroundings.
Our breath is carrying us through the forms, every moment a reminder that life is about giving and receiving.
Simple rhythms support us.
Each of our days together we will go deeper and deeper into a process of observing our relationship to nature, to ourselves, and to the group.
